Welcome to the Physical Therapy Department at University Health Services! Here are a few simple things to know before getting started:
What is physical therapy?
- Physical therapy focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and treating musculoskeletal disorders to improve mobility and function.
- Therapists use techniques like manual therapy, exercise, and modalities (heat, cold, electrical stimulation) for rehabilitation.
- It helps manage chronic conditions, aids post-surgery recovery, and educates patients on self-management and injury prevention.
How do I schedule, reschedule, or cancel an appointment?
- New patients with a referral from a non-UHS provider need to contact the UHS Referral Department at (850) 644-4567.
- New patients with a referral from a UHS provider will receive a call from the referrals team once the referral is received.
- To cancel or reschedule your appointment, call (850) 644-4567.

What to wear to your physical therapy appointment:
- Wear comfortable attire (no jeans, dresses, buttons, or zippers) that allows for easy movement and evaluation of the injured area. This includes closed-toed athletic sneakers.
