Amy Magnuson PhD, RD, LD/N - Director

Amy B. Magnuson, PhD, RD, LD/N, is a seasoned professional in the fields of nutrition, public health, and wellness. With a Doctorate of Philosophy in Food and Nutrition from Florida State University, Amy has dedicated her career to promoting health and well-being in various capacities. As the Director of University Health Services (UHS) within the Division of Student Affairs at FSU, she provides strategic leadership and oversees comprehensive medical care, women’s health, and wellness for the university community. Under her leadership, UHS was ranked 14th in the nation among college health centers, a testament to her commitment to excellence in student health care. Amy is known for her data-driven-decision-making approach, ensuring that policies and initiatives are informed by the latest research and best practices.  She places a strong emphasis on student-centered health and wellbeing, striving to create an inclusive and supportive environment where all students can thrive. Amy is also an accomplished educator, serving as an adjunct instructor in public health. Her commitment to research and program excellence is evident through her extensive grant funding, numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, and presentations at professional conferences across the nation. Additionally, Amy's leadership extends to her service on the Board of Directors for the Southern College Health Association, where she contributes to shaping the future of college health initiatives regionally. Amy is a registered dietitian with certifications in group fitness, further demonstrating her expertise and dedication to promoting healthy lifestyles. Through her leadership, research, and advocacy efforts, Amy continues to make significant contributions to advancing health and wellness initiatives, both on campus and beyond.

Dr. Christopher DeLisle D.O., AOBFP, Certified Family Medicine and OMT - Medical Director

Dr. DeLisle is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment and serves as the Medical Director for University Health Services (UHS). His main duties include the medical oversight of the clinic, assuring that quality clinical services are provided to students, as well as developing clinical protocols to implement a high standard of patient care. He works closely with other campus departments and co-manages campus public health event responses while communicating with the health department on a state and local level. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine for the Florida State University College of Medicine. Dr. DeLisle has been with UHS since 2012 and has been practicing medicine since 2006. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003, graduating with honors from Nova Southeastern University.

Kelly Dykes Associate Director, Quality Improvement and Technology Services

Kelly Dykes is a dedicated and accomplished Healthcare Administrator with over 20 years of experience supporting administrative and technological roles in college health. She has proven leadership skills, building strong and diverse teams that innovate in complex environments. Kelly is focused on digital transformation, organizational quality, and operational excellence. 

Throughout her career, Kelly has demonstrated a deep commitment to her work and passion for helping others. During her time with University Health Services, she has spearheaded the implementation of new clinical information systems and designed training programs to ensure adoption of new technologies. 

In her current role as Associate Director of Quality Improvement Technology Services, she continues to drive innovation and serves as the HIPAA Privacy Officer. She develops policies and partnerships to achieve departmental goals, while also overseeing critical committees focused on accreditation, quality improvement, and risk management. 

Kelly enjoys taking on diverse leadership roles and responsibilities. She is adaptable and driven, constantly seeking new challenges and opportunities for improvement. Kelly's collaborative spirit and commitment to excellence undoubtedly make her an asset to the University Health Services team.

Mari Kay Avant Assistant Director, Public Relations & Appointment Scheduling

Mari Kay is the Assistant Director of Public Relations & Appointment Scheduling at UHS. Since joining the team in 2011, she has played a pivotal role in enhancing communication strategies and ensuring seamless appointment scheduling for our patients. With a wealth of experience and a passion for fostering relationships, Mari Kay has been instrumental in shaping the public image of UHS. Beyond the professional realm, she finds joy in exploring new places and cherishing moments with her family.

Tony Cline Assistant Director, Facilities

As Assistant Director of Facilities, Anthony oversees the daily operations of the in-house Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Inventory departments in University Health Services. He also serves as Assistant Risk Manager and Continuity of Operations Coordinator to ensure compliance and safety within UHS. He has worked in many capacities within Florida State University over 20 years and has utilized this time to create a network of support for the university as a whole. He also currently serves as founder and chair for the universities Facilities Maintenance Support Committee to ensure the university has open lines of communication between its support staff to better serve our students, faculty, and staff. He is currently working on his Interdisciplinary Social Science degree, that specializes in public service, and United States Intelligence and emergency management program at Florida State University. He also holds many FEMA certifications in disaster management and mitigation. In his personal time, he enjoys working with his hands on his farm, renovation projects, and mechanical repairs.

Her responsibilities include overseeing organizational policies and compliance with accreditation standards, managing quality improvement projects, and reviewing risk management incidents. She also leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of a three-year strategic plan. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys discovering new restaurants, attending FSU sporting events, drinking coffee, and spending time with her teenage daughters.

Rose Rezaei  Director, Center for Health Advocacy & Wellness

As Director, Rose (she/her/hers) provides leadership and strategic planning for campus wellness initiatives including alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, sexual health, power-based personal violence prevention, nutrition and body image, bystander intervention, and general wellbeing. Rose was instrumental in the development of the campus-wide kNOw MORE power-based violence prevention initiative which highlights education and the continuum of care for students, faculty, and staff. Creating spaces where students feel empowered to take ownership of their lives through education and skill building serves as the foundation of her work. She is currently completing her Doctorate of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Florida State. Outside of FSU, she enjoys attending community events, thrift shopping and traveling.

Leah Stephens Senior Administrative Specialist

Leah oversees the University Health Services (UHS) Human Resources (HR) Team and serves as HR Recruiter for the department. She has been working at Florida State University (FSU) since 2016 and started with UHS in 2020. Her role allows her to work closely with supervisors and Central HR to hire diverse talent for UHS. Being that UHS is a health center, this allows her the unique opportunity to hire for clinical and administrative roles all while being within Higher Education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management in 2016 from Florida State University. As an FSU graduate, she feels grateful for the opportunity to assist in the hiring process for a student focused department.

Aliya Gamez (she/her) is the Marketing Assistant and Web Developer at UHS. Her duties include supporting the maintenance of UHS's primary website and managing other affiliated sites like CHAW, Student Insurance, and Healthy Campus. Her responsibilities extend to the crafting of web pages and the editing of content across the site, ensuring a seamless and engaging online experience for visitors on both the main UHS website and its additional services. Outside of her work and studies at FSU, she enjoys reading novels, watching TV and spending time with her cat.

I worked at UHS for five years in Compliance from 2014-2019 and moved over to the College of Medicine. I have returned and now I work closely alongside Mrs. Tamecho Jordan to manage Student Services. I love to spend time with my family & closest friends, as well as alone. I also enjoy reading and resting along with a few other things.

Mike Stewart-Meza Training Supervisor

Serving as MRU's Training Supervisor, Michael provides training and mentorship to student-responders to prepare them as today's emergency medical responders and tomorrow's healthcare leaders. Michael is responsible for implementing a meaningful experience for our student-responders that equips and encourages them to serve others with both high competence and deep compassion. Before working at FSU, Michael served as a paramedic in both rural and urban 9-1-1 EMS systems and as a critical care transport paramedic. In addition to working at FSU, Michael continues to serve as an adjunct EMS instructor for first responder, EMT and paramedic courses. In his free time, Michael enjoys reading philosophy, being active within his church, and spending time with his husband and their dog, Major.

Bryce Hickey Director of Administration

Bryce (He/Him/His) is the Director of Administration for the Florida State Medical Response Unit. His main responsibilities are to track hours worked by all responders, to accurately track and report all patient care activity and courtesy assists, and to represent the MRU at public engagements. Bryce plans to graduate from the Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences (IMS) B.S. Degree Program, with a major in Clinical Professions, during the spring of 2024. In his free time, Bryce enjoys going to the gym, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.

Francesca Carravetta Director of Operations

Fran (She/Her/Hers) is the Director of Operations for the Medical Response Unit at FSU. She is responsible for staffing Emergency Medical Responders to work events on campus and tracking inventory for the Unit. Fran joined the Medical Response Unit her sophomore year, obtained her Emergency Medical Responder Certificate, and went on to attend EMT school at TCC the following summer. Fran is in her final year at Florida State University studying Exercise Physiology. When not at the MRU you can find Fran at the Rez paddle boarding, dominating in IM pickleball (0-3), working as an EMT in Gadsden County, or telling bad jokes as a University Ambassador for FSU.

Katelyn Boada Director of Special Projects

Katelyn is the Director of Special Projects. As the Director of Special Projects, Katelyn oversees and manages all public health education and certification initiatives as well as social media platforms for the organization. The FSU Medical Response Unit offers certification in the nationally recognized bleeding control course known as Stop the Bleed. Since the Fall of 2021, Katelyn alongside other responders on the unit and the FSU Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life has founded and developed the FSU Greek student education program known as "GreekSAFE" which works to promote safety and wellness in regard to the Greek chapter facilities and Greek affiliated events. Katelyn's other responsibilities fall into organizing responder bonding events, managing any intramural sports done by the organization, and other external-related projects that may come up. In her free time, Katelyn trains to pursue her passion of becoming a professional dancer and loves to stay active in the gym and on hikes.

Sam Cook Executive Director

Sam (he/him/his) is the Executive Director for the Florida State Medical Response Unit. His main responsibilities are to create, present, and defend the MRU budget and sweeping purchases. He also organizes, and leads the application process, and oversees the executive board. Sam joined the MRU when he was a freshman, which is where he obtained his Emergency Medical Responder certification. He proceeded to go to school the following summer and obtained his EMT license, and he now works part-time for Gadsden County EMS. Entering his 3rd year, Sam is continuing to pursue a double major in psychology and nursing. When Sam is not working or studying, he can be found in the gym, playing tennis, or listening to music.

Dr. Nelson-Tilcock M.D.

Dr. Nelson-Tilcock received her MD from Florida State University College of Medicine. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida and graduated summa cum laude with a double major in Telecommunications and Interdisciplinary Studies in Neurobiological Sciences. She completed her residency at Atlanta Medical Center and is board certified in Family Medicine. Prior to practicing in Tallahassee she worked with underserved populations in Thomasville and Bainbridge GA. Dr. Nelson-Tilcock enjoys the outdoors, photography, soccer, and spending time with her 3 children and 2 dogs.

Nicole Parrish DNP, APRN, FNP-C

Nicole Parrish, DNP, APRN, FNP-C Nicole is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and serves as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the Priority Clinic at University Health Services (UHS). Her main duties are caring for patients by completed physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries. She also serves as an Adjunct Faculty/OSCE Coordinator for the Florida State University College of Nursing and Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Florida State University College of Medicine. Nicole has been with UHS since 2021, after earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice, graduating with honors from Florida State University. When not working, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, traveling and cooking.

Sarah graduated from the University of Florida's Physician Assistant program in 2006. She practiced in a private family practice for 4 years prior to joining University Health Services in 2010. Sarah has been working in the Fast Track Clinic since it began in 2014.

Ann Rubin PA-C

Ann Rubin, PA-C is a board certified Physician Assistant that practices mainly in the Fast Track clinic at University Health Services. Her main duties include performing history, physical and diagnostic examinations for the identification and evaluation of acute illnesses and injuries. She is also an active member of the Peer Review and Quality Assurance Committees here at the health center. She has been with UHS since 2016 but has been practicing medicine in the local and rural communities since 2008. She earned her Masters of Medical Science with the Physician Assistant Program at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale in 2008 and received her undergraduate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from University of Florida in 1994. She is the proud mother of two kids and in her spare time loves camping, reading, jogging and being outdoors. As a past high school teacher, she is passionate and enthusiastic about educating our students on their acute medical conditions along with promoting healthier lifestyle habits they can implement to improve their overall health.

Rachel Louwsma PA

Rachel Louwsma, MHS, PA-C is a Primary Care Physician Assistant who joined University Health Services in 2024. She is an undergraduate alumni of Florida State University and completed her Master's degree at the University of South Alabama. Rachel has practiced in both urgent care and outpatient family medicine prior to joining UHS, and enjoys being back on campus and working with students at her alma mater. In her free time, you can find Rachel cheering on FSU football, dancing at Drip Drop Fitness, or spending time with her husband and two dogs, Daisy and Poppy!

Alice Cook Laxton, BSN, APRN is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner who began her Nurse Practitioner career in 1988 after completing the requirements needed for Florida licensure at the University of Florida. She began working at University Health Services at FSU in 1993. While at the University of Florida she was inducted into Golden Key Honor Society and Sigma Theta Tau the International Honor Society for Nursing.

Rose Rezaei  Director, Center for Health Advocacy & Wellness

As Director, Rose (she/her/hers) provides leadership and strategic planning for campus wellness initiatives including alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, sexual health, power-based personal violence prevention, nutrition and body image, bystander intervention, and general wellbeing. Rose was instrumental in the development of the campus-wide kNOw MORE power-based violence prevention initiative which highlights education and the continuum of care for students, faculty, and staff. Creating spaces where students feel empowered to take ownership of their lives through education and skill building serves as the foundation of her work. She is currently completing her Doctorate of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Florida State. Outside of FSU, she enjoys attending community events, thrift shopping and traveling.

Zabe Thompson Assistant Director

Zabe (They/Them/Theirs) is the Assistant Director in the Center for Health Advocacy and Wellness (CHAW). They are the former sexual health coordinator in CHAW and have a passion for sexual health. As assistant director, their responsibilities include serving the campus community on the issues of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs; hazing prevention, and overall wellness. They aim to create spaces where students feel empowered to make decisions that are best for their health, as well as engage in health advocacy for themselves and their peers. They received their Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis on Psychology and Sociology, and a Minor in Womens & Gender Studies from Valdosta State University and their Masters in Public Health from Florida State University. In their free time, Zabe enjoys knitting, pirates, spending time with loved ones, including their cat Phoebe.

Janel Robinson Green Dot Coordinator

Nell (she/her/hers) is the Green Dot Coordinator for the Center for Health Advocacy and Wellness. Her main responsibilities include coordinating the implementation of the Green Dot Bystander Intervention program, educating students on bystander intervention, and collaborating with campus stakeholders. Nell received her Bachelor’s in Sociology from Florida State University and is currently completing her Masters of Social Work. In her free time, she enjoys cake decorating, watching scary movies, and trying to find the perfect cup of boiled peanuts.

Samantha Thomas MPH, RD

Samantha Thoms (She/her) is a Registered Dietitian in the Center of Health Advocacy and Wellness. Before moving to Florida, Sam lived and worked as a dietitian in both Vancouver, BC and Indianapolis, IN. She received her Bachelor's degree in Human Biology from Indiana University and her Master's degree in Public Health with a concentration in nutrition/dietetics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sam aims to help students learn to dispel nutrition myths, challenge dominant cultural narratives around health, and develop healthy habits on their own terms. In her free time, she enjoys getting lost in a good book, spending time with her family, gardening, and sewing.

Emma Vieira RD

Emma (she/her/hers) is a Registered Dietitian for the Center for Health Advocacy and Wellness. Emma has always valued the teachings of Intuitive Eating and being a part of the Health at Every Size Movement. She has two split roles, health promotion and nutrition counseling. Her main responsibilities in health promotion include educating students on various nutrition topics that aim to promote having a long-lasting healthy relationship with food and body image by developing programming related to eating disorder prevention. She also provides one-on-one nutrition counseling to students seeking guidance on various nutrition topics related to general healthful eating, disordered eating, eating disorders, high cholesterol, food allergies, and many more. Emma received her Bachelor's in Dietetics at Florida State University, completed her internship, and became credentialed by the national association and licensed in the State of Florida, to provide appropriate, safe, scientific, and evidence-based nutrition guidance. In her free time, she loves spending time with her weenie dog Fettuccine, reading, hiking, painting, and watching reality tv.

Esaunti McRae MPH - Student Prevention Coordinator for Sexual Health

Esaunti (she/her) is the prevention coordinator for sexual health. She is a former CHAW HIV intern, that received her Master in Public Health (MPH) from Florida State. She also received her Bachelor in Public Health from the University of South Florida. Her responsibilities include, HIV testing, wellness coaching, and presentations to students about health and wellness topics. She loves engaging with students and fostering an environment where they feel safe and can thrive. In her free time Esaunti enjoys true crime podcasts, yoga, and spending time with her dog Winter.

Dr. Annmarie Garis is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. She treats a variety of musculoskeletal, neurological, and vestibular conditions. Dr. Garis is a certified running gait analyst and certified running coach. She holds additional certifications in dry needling, Sportsmetrics, Functional Movement Systems, and the assessment and medical management of concussions. Dr. Garis has been with UHS since 2013 and has been practicing physical therapy since 2009. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree at Florida State University in 2004 and her Doctor of Physical therapy degree at the University of Florida in 2009.
