Pay Student Account Charges:
Student Health Fee
The Student Health Fee supports student access to healthcare services and helps fund essential campus health programs, including medical services, counseling and psychological services, health promotion and wellness initiatives, and emergency medical response services. The Health Fee is not health insurance and should not be interpreted as payment for individual healthcare services or healthcare-related charges.
Important: Your Health Fee is Not Health Insurance
The Health Fee helps support access to healthcare and essential campus health programs. However, it is not health insurance and does not cover all medical services or healthcare-related charges.

Understanding Your Health Insurance
UHS bills insurance for eligible services when you provide your insurance information. Your insurance company determines which services are covered and how much it will pay.
Before your appointment: Check your benefits, network status, and potential out-of-pocket costs. Verification of benefits does not guarantee payment.
Your Financial Responsibility
By receiving services at UHS, you authorize UHS to submit claims and share necessary information with your insurance carrier.
You are responsible for any charges insurance does not pay, including:
- Deductibles
- Coinsurance
- Non-covered services
- Denied claims
- Benefit limitations
- Inactive coverage
- Out-of-network or unavailable coverage
How Billing Works
Once your insurance has processed your claim, any remaining balance may be charged to your FSU student account in accordance with university procedures.
When will I see a charge?
Insurance claims can take 30–90 days or longer to process.

Before Your Appointment
Ask your insurance company:
- Is UHS in-network for my plan?
- Is the service I need covered?
- Will I owe a deductible, copay, or coinsurance?
- Do I need prior authorization?
Self-Pay Options & Good Faith Estimates
University Health Services offers discounted self-pay rates for patients who do not have health insurance or choose not to use their insurance for their visit.
Under federal law, healthcare providers are required upon request to provide patients who are uninsured or not using insurance with a Good Faith Estimate of their expected charges for medical items and services.
